print room: John James Audubon
Among Havell Edition prints, there are a few beloved images the prices of which have placed them well out of the reach of anyone but the wealthiest individuals. If you seek to own a Carolina Parrot, Great Blue Heron or a Flamingo, a facsimile is almost a given for the great majority of collectors. But even facsimiles can be expensive or difficult to obtain. Although Princeton Audubon offers facsimiles of the Havell Edition Carolina Parrot and Flamingo, it has yet to offer a facsimile of the Havell Edition Great Blue Heron. There are some Giclée alternatives, the least expensive priced at $1,400, the most expensive at $15,000. When we first entered the Audubon market as buyers in 1998, Amsterdam retail prices were approximately double what they are today. With technology changing rapidly and new print series becoming available, it is difficult to predict what will happen to facsimile prices over time. A conservative approach allows you to have your print and enjoy its decorativeness without worry. We are therefore pleased to offer here a limited edition facsimile print of Plate 211 Great Blue Heron published by Martino in 2005. This 10-color offset lithograph was issued in a limited edition of 500. Each print is hand numbered in pencil (xxx/500) at the bottom right of the front. Printed on a beautiful watermarked 100 % cotton rag paper (approximately the same weight as the original WHATMAN used for the Havells), each sheet measures 26 x 39-3/4 inches. The paper is a nice cream color and has the soft texture of rag paper. Besides the hand numbering and watermarked paper, publishing information is printed on the back in eight lines of text. We are offering this print for an introductory price of $500. TO ORDER THIS PRINT OR ASK QUESTIONS, PLEASE CONTACT US.
