Audubon painted these Mallards either in Louisiana or Mississippi between 1821 and 1825. This painting employs gold leaf under the green pigment in the heads of the birds.
There is a strict limitation of 200 copies of each image. Plate numbers that include an “A” were not used as part of The Birds of America.
